No spin here. Arnel sounded fine.

No such thing, they're taking us to a lower place this time, to put a spin on a phrase.
Rock bottom was releasing concert videos to VH-1 Classics featuring the lead singer hiding his face with a fuzzy oversized microphone. This is fine. No less of a shameless publicity stunt than when Foreigner played at Nascar. And hey, at least Michaele Salahi wasn't on-stage in some slutty overalls grinding on Neal and dancing a hoedown.

Aside from the one note toward the end, Arnel was solid. I didn't think he or the Rascal Flatts guy really impressed. Carrie Underwood also sounded tired. But, hey, it's a live show. Nitpick away.
Really? I am not picking a fight, because I like youBut I thought he started off horribly and ended worse.

Yeah, I'm just teasing.
This was a great publicity move that, as far as I can tell, Arnel botched. But I haven't seen a quality clip yet, though I'm hoping it will be released soon.

I thought he started off strong

Yes as good as he has ever been!!! Totally agree!
knox wrote:Arnel doesn't annunciate well at all. His timing was off. And his vocal tone was horrible.
I have watched the clip 5 times now. I just don't see how anyone can say anything good about this guy. Heck, throw Reed Grimm up there - he is 10 times the talent Pineda is.

It wasn't a screw up, it was to accommodate the time.

Hmmm... I'll have to watch it again...thanks alot you bastard!
Gideon wrote:Much better, thanks Don. I wish they would have got the introduction, though.
Arnel sounded pretty good minus the two money notes. The last one sounded great until the very end when he overused falsetto.
I'm with TNC on this one. Good, not great, but not horrendous.

Faint? Hardly. I always suspected that you were a woman of superb judgment and agreeing with me only proves it!
I just watched the video posted on the CMT website and Arnel sounded very solid. Minus the typical pronunciation problems, he made a bad decision to undersing the first note and oversing the second. Otherwise, pitch and clarity were great.

I agree not great but good enough! I think AP has the pronunciation problems when he's a bit nervous since recent interviews show he's improved dramatically! It'll be interesting to see how he does on this year's tour!

This was never intended to be about Journey at all. They were just the nostalgia act supporting Rascal Flatts, and both were riding the coat tails of DSB's recent resurgence. That's all.
Actually glad it was AP, and not some hyped Perry thing. I mean, if they'd all reconciled just for one night, and Perry did this...well, then it'd be bad press. But hey, who really gives a s#it? It's just the music business selling more product. That's America...and yes (In my best John Wayne), 'why I love her'.

Seeing as Perry was trending Top five on twitter right along with Journey after the performance, it didn't seem to matter if he was there physically or not.
