The good ones. Perry's stuff.

knox wrote:And yet, they still play the Perry stuff 99% of the time. If Arnel is such a musical genius, why isn't the modern stuff driving their tours? Why is the Perry stuff STILL so freaking popular?
Answer - because THAT was stellar music. Period. Far above anything they have done since he left.

These are the same tired arguments we heard after the band put out Arrival. Truth is, the band could put out their masterpiece tomorrow. Nobody would care. Similarly, if Perry announced a world tour, those audiences would be hungry for the same greatest hits. Not Against the Wall. Not FTLOSM. Nostalgia drives the touring circuit for any performer from the 70s, 80s, and even the 90s.

Maybe becuz it was one of two Rev songs that was actually released as a single? The Sushi Hunter wrote:That's the only song on the album my wife and I listen to actually.
It's a nice Journey/Cain schmaltzy ballad. But it's not the only decent song on that cd.

This is a blatant strawman. No one, not even Rip or Chubs to my knowledge, has ever foisted the appellation of "musical genius" on Arnel.

Yeah, but I still don't think the reference was intended to be taken seriously.

Along with the rest of his argument, undoubtedly.

Listen, Arnel can sing MUCH better than I can. But as far as being the front man for Journey, who is know for 2 things - Vocalist and Melodic Guitar Solos... I just don't think he fits the bill.
Yeah, I go over board a bit trying to get my point across - but that's par for the course here, isn't it?

NO ONE can tell me that Arnel is anywhere close to this guy.

Escape is still my all time favorite from the band, though there are a few tunes here and there from other albums that were outstanding as well.

Oh yeah? Then why the hell couldn't I play as good as Eddie Van Halen did in the late 70's early 80's?

I prefer Frontiers to Escape, actually.

The old "How do I get to Carnegie Hall? - Practice, my boy, practice".

Well I could sit down to a piano and play the hell out of it (classical and pop) with hardly no practice at all.
