Journey guitarist Neal Schon sues former mother-in-law

Journey guitarist Neal Schon is suing his former mother-in-law for defamation for saying bad things about him on the Internet.

Wait -- I thought that's why they made the Internet.

According to TMZ, Schon sued Judy Kozan, the mother of Amber Schon -- whom Schon divorced in 2007 -- saying Kozan "attacked and harassed" him through Internet postings and false comments to the media for years.

According to the lawsuit, Kozan wrote a blog post in January, accusing Schon of not giving her daughter enough money to support herself and letting their two little girls "go homeless," putting his ex "in a situation where she literally has no money for food, gas for the car, bills, nothing."

Schon said he actually paid her more than $1.3 million, and Kozan's claims have tarnished his reputation, resulting in multiple media outlets accusing him of being a deadbeat dad. TMZ said Schon is suing for at least $75,000.

Apparently Kozan has since removed the blog post in question and replaced it with one that sounds like a retraction, in which she says the "deadbeat dad" reports are false.

(imo)Neal should take the high road and let it go. He of all people knows celebrities are fair game for every rumor, innuendo, truth/half-truth/falsehood, etc. imaginable in today’s wide-wild-world. Take the retraction/apology and move on. What is there to gain for taking legal and punitive action? All he’s doing is flaunting his power by punishing the woman for money she probably doesn’t have and which he doesn’t need.

I agree. What is there for Neal to gain? Suing people takes money and an emotional investment. I can't see how he could find anything good coming out of this, other than to inflict pain on her. In doing so he will inflict pain on himself and his family members too. Not worth it, IMO.

He's only suing to make her sign a "shut the fuck up" gag order.. like he should have in the 1st place..

All he probably wants is a complete retraction, and a binding confidentiallity agreement. Once that is in place, he'll drop the suit. This isn't about power or money, it's about sending a clear msg to anyone else in that circle, and maybe other Ex'es too, not to be running their mouths in the future.

My gosh if everyone got sued for saying something negative he would be a zillionaire.
I still think there is something to what she posted. Anyone know what blog they are talking about?

I wonder how many times since he hooked up with Olive Oil has he seen in person his kids.

Just sayin...

There was truth to him not seeing the kids all that much I'm sure, but the poor daughter bit and Neal not taking care of his kids financially and because of him were gong to be homeless was inflammatory and really way off when you look at the court document that was posted on here outlining all that Neal paid her over these last five years, which looked pretty substantial and not like what the mother was painting as far as support. I agree that he is probably just doing this to get her to sign something as far as shutting up.

The mother pulled what she'd posted on her blog and replaced it with a retraction already... most likely on the advice of her attorney

That's the filing... it has to say that to compel her to settle....

He'll get 3 and 4... and probably 6 (although he might not want to bankrupt her with attorney costs) or cause more drama/animosity with his kids. I bet his attorney will use 1, 2, 5 and 6 top get 3 & 4.

1. Awarding Plaintiff damages for defamation in a reasonable amount in excess of $75,000;

2. Awarding Plainti ff damages for invasion of privacy in a reasonable amount in excess of $75,000;

3. An order enjoining Defendant preliminarily and permanently from making or publishing any statement, written or verbal, either directly or indirectly, to or through internet so cial media, media outlets or reporters, or other persons or entities, that could in any way be reasonably construed to disparage or defame Plaintiff and/or Plaintiff’s fiancé (Michaele Salahi), or otherwise take any action that has or may have the purpose or effect of damaging the personal, professional, business, or artistic reputations of Plaintiff and/or Ms. Salahi;

4. An order enjoining Defendant preliminarily and permanently from making or publishing any statement, written or verbal, either directly or indirectly, to or through internet social media, media outlets or reporters, or other persons or entities, concerning Plaintiff’s relationship with Amber Schon or Plaintiff’s children with Amber Schon, or publishing or causing to be published in any manner, either directly or indirectly, any information concerning Plaintiff’s relationship with Amber Schon or Plaintiff’s children with Amber Schon;

5. Awarding Plaintiff his costs and disbursements incurred herein, including reasonable attorneys fees;

6. Awarding Plaintiff pre-judgment and post-judgment interest allowable by law; and

7. Awarding Plaintiff such further and other relief as the Court deems just and equitable.

Neal would probably take the kids around with him, at least for a few shows. Would be a great experience for them. Didn't this chic just have another kid out of wedlock? She will still have her hands full, more so if Neal gets his kids. No more child support except from the new kid's dad. Major life style change.

No time to finish her degree but plenty of time to get knocked up again.

r u kidding

Postby LookthruGlass » Thu Mar 21, 2013 11:44 am

Those kids have lives too, someone would have to take care of them and it would be Michelle at home ALONE. And this "love affair" would be over.
The child out of wedlock is 4 I think. Dad is not in the picture either, she has moved on to a new guy now. Well its been a couple years.

Just think lilttle Sophie probably doesn t even know her Dad, she was just a baby when they moved to MN. She made a mistake by getting divorced in MN and not CA, I think !
He has to have some sort of visitation, I say let it happen.

Now that would be funny as hell.

Yeah, community property state... each party is entitled to half of total assets accumulated during the marriage...even if only one does the "acquiring." :lol:
And, Neal got off easy paying alimony for a limited time. How about life or future marriage? That's why all these celebrity ex-wives never remarry. They just have boyfriends. :lol:
