I enjoyed that thoroughly. Snyder is an impressive mind, more impressive than I initially thought. Kevin Smith geeked out like madness the entire time haha. Some concept art for Supes/Bats but nothing official. I would have atleast got an official title but for what it was, I liked that and some of the things they addressed like the destruction and neck snap. Good stuff.

It was a good time. I'm a fan of Smith's but he does tend to motormouth right over his guests, sometimes. Not all the time, but I think he cut Amy off at least once. I hope Zack's response to the Codex question was satisfactory for all those who wanted to ask the same.

And this won't resonate as much with you as he did with me, but when he said (admitted) the Krypton was inspired by the comics from Heavy Metal (the magazine and movie)...that induced the veritable nerdgasm.

It really doesn't matter if you believe me or not.. When there are chatters of clapping hands occurring, that's called an applause  Correction, though. People clapped 5 times (went to a drive-though one of those 6 times.)

I didn't see it 6 times on opening weekend. My viewings are spanned out. I saw it twice opening weekend (the early Wal-Mart showing for people who bought the private screening and then the midnight showing.)

That following Monday night my oldest bro and his crew wanted me to go to the drive-through; my buddy came home from school wanted to see it; again on Fathers Day weekend with a handful who wanted to see MOS twice; and the last showing on 4th of July weekend with my parents. Think 6 times is crazy? Most Bat-friends I know saw TDK up to 16 times haha. Like I said, I've waited for this version of Superman for a long, long time. Now time for the Blu-Ray. :!:

Even out of this entire thread, you are a among a handful (and that's being very generous) of MR posters that loved MOS. So sorry, I'm just not buying it. MOS has no hype, no buzz, no Monday morning water cooler after-effect. The whole thing was very anticlimactic.

Yea, I don't buy this either. Your friends spent over a hundred dollars to see the same movie repeatedly in a theater? They must mow alot of lawns on the weekends.

Again, you don't have to take my word for it. I only have a few Bat-friends in realty. I'm talking online forums and friends I've met over the years online like these forums here like Melodicrock but instead, forums like superherohype and comicbookrecources, etc. Hardcore fans saw TDK up to 16 times. Fans are pretty wild and crazy when it comes to this stuff. Comic book movies and their fanbases are pretty wild.

I've been following MOS and the possibility of a SR sequel since 2006-2008. Every last little feeding of detail that comes into early casting, rumors, production, set pics and advertising is discovered and chatted about within those communities. I followed every last piece with MOS and it's only just begun with Superman/Batman. It's a fun ride for true fans of the genre.

Yesterday to promote the MOS Blue-Ray with a live Yahoo! online feed, Zack Snyder slipped and said "Lex loves calling Supes an alien" in the sequel so the fans are taking that and running with it. He also is ONLY referring to this movie right now as "Sage and Milo" which some fans think is a nod to Dr.Strange and Metallo. Who knows, it's all apart of the ride 8)

There have been 3 DOMINATING voices in this entire thread. Me, verslibre and you (occasionally, RWF.) Overall in this entire thread, 12 people watched MOS that chimed in. Here are those opinions:

G.I Jim:
Well, I just got home from seeing it... WOW!!! What an incredible movie!!!!!!

verslibre:
It was awesome, dude. This is going to be hard for people to stomach, but...this movie is better than (*screams from random passersby*) The Avengers. I love The Avengers as a straightforward action film that gathers the characters, but things fell apart in the end and they used a cheap, predictable gimmick to get things over with.

jestor92:
I went to go see Man of Steel on Saturday and I'd probably give the film a solid 6.5 or 7 out of 10. Overall it's a very good movie, it kind of reminded me a bit of The Avengers with a slightly weaker script.

brywool:
Saw this yesterday. REALLY liked it. Did watch the 3D version. Probably didn't need to, but oh well. I preferred it over the Christopher Reeve films because they didn't treat it like the old Batman TV show.

Rick:
I saw it yesterday, and it's a damn good movie. Actually, I thought the casting was terrific, right down to Laurence Fishburn as Perry White. I enjoyed getting to see the back story, and was really glad to see a real action packed drama, instead of the semi-cheesy way they did it with Christopher Reeve.

Lynn:
Saw MOS a few days ago. Really liked it! Thought it was cast very well. Love Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Liked a darker story SO much more than the cheesier, tongue and cheek kind if Superman movies of the past. Look toward to a sequel!

Abitman:
MOS was awesome!!! Most people who do not like it, think Superman is the 70's 80's movies with Reeves. It is hard for them to get past that. But MOS is a lot like the comics, which is a very good thing. My favorite Superman movie by far, but still like the first two Reeve movies.

brandonx76:
Man of Steel kicked ass...I'm surprised all the criticism levied at it - I think it has to do with the over-saturation of super hero movies...but they got this one right

strangegrey:
Personally, I saw it twice. It had it's good points and it had some fucking horrible ones (the eyeball twisting CGI fight scenes, especially at the end, were awful).

RWF:
Saw MOS the Sunday after release. Thought the opening scenes on Krypton were fabulous. Overall gave it a 6.5 out of 10. I'll forever remember this movie for Pa Kent lecturing to young Clark how it might have been better to let a bus load of his classmates drown rather than save them.

TNC:
Just came back from seeing it with 3 friends. Like parts of it. Other parts felt like bad fan fiction or a revisionist take on the character, which is perfectly fine. Ultimately tho, I was bored.

To that count, 9/12 people that chimed in either REALLY LIKED or LOVED Man of Steel. One gave it props but was in the middle with feedback. The two that hated it? You and RWF. As a majority, MR-ers liked/loved Man of Steel and that's putting it lightly

But, I see you still feel the need to continue your angst towards this film. Doesn't surprise me, though. We obviously have different tastes since you've admitted to loving GL and SR (though SR was TERRIBLE, it still is an interesting film to me in a weird way. Still trying to figure out what Singer was trying to FUCKING do there...)

Personally, MOS is the comic-book Superman movie I've long waited for. It has flaws (plenty of them, there's NO disputing that) but I highly overlook those unbalanced deficiencies because we finally have a director with big enough BALLS to go through with a badass Superman.

MoS is the best herofilm of 2013.

Thor: The Dark World is #2. Check it out, I think you'll like it. It gets a little silly at the end but it's a good movie and much better than the first. And Jaimie Alexander is smokin' hot in this one. It's like "Thor...dude? Jane's cute, but really? Sif's right over there!" Odin even TELLS him that, HAHAHA!!

Iron Man 3 is a distant third, and that's only because I haven't seen Kick Ass 2. Am I missing another hero flick?

I've heard the goofiness complaint over the last few. I will more than likely enjoy it. The Marvel-forumula hasn't changed with Thor 2 so I know what to expect overall. I'm not going to go out to the theaters and see this. I'll wait for DVD release and have a popcorn movie night with this one. Glad you liked it, v. 8)

There are two reasons to watch it: Loki and Kurse. They got Kurse spot-on right out of the comic. He is so badass he upstages Malekith. And Hiddleston steals every scene he's in. The Dark Elves' assault on Asgard is visually very well-done, even if it makes the Asgardians looks a little inept!

Didn't enjoy it as much as the first one though.

You don't think it sorta kinda started to come off the rails towards the end?

When you say "another," I sure as hell know you don't mean Ironic Man 3.

Yup, even the weakest of Iron Man films was better.

Looking forward to seeing XMen Days of Future Past too. I don't think it's a coincidence that Bryan Singer made a good Xmen, Great Xmen United, Shitty Superman Returns, and I'm predicting he's gonna hit a homer with Xmen DoFP in May. Goes a long way in the better material and characters in the Marvel Universe. Loved Supes when I was a kid, I've come to realize that he's just not an interesting character. After these past 2 outings I've given up hope of seeing another great Superman flick.

The DoFP trailer is a snooooz-er. Captain America: The Winter Soldier is going to kick the shit out of that movie. Easily. DoFP will gross more moola only because of the X-legacy already behind it. They're not adapting the storyline as they should to do the story justice and Wolverine will yet again be front and center, with Cyclops nowhere in sight.

Personally, I hate Singer's directing style. The guy is so overrated, my eyes almost don't come back down from rolling upward so far. Everything about his movies is so emo, they should rename the movies Emo-men.

Marvel says that "Winter Solider" will have a 70s political thriller vibe, channeling Manchurian Candidiate....not sure that's what I am looking for in a Captain America film, but u gotta give Marvel credit for trying diff. things.

BS. The Faora character ALONE put anything IM2, IM3, CAP or Thor1 ever did on screen to shame. IM2-3 has to be the most overrated SH movie's ever made. Cap was a snoozefest and Thor was just alright.

MoS had some TIGHT moments. Snyder's style doesn't play it safe and is not a director everyone buys into, but he has balls. Krypton fleshed out like we've never seen it before was unreal. Jor-El was a badass. He threw down hard. The battle of Smallville was balls to the walls breathtaking. General Zods Earth entrance YOU ARE NOT ALONE was eerie. I think the flashbacks turned peoples heads in both a good and bad way. I thought it worked well with Supes while everybody else are in "Marvel-mode." Everybody nowadays expects the Marvel touch. Not going to get it with Snyder, MoS or the new Superman/Batman movie and anything thereafter and I applaud that.

I don't think it's a coincidence that Bryan Singer made a good Xmen, Great Xmen United, Shitty Superman Returns, and I'm predicting he's gonna hit a homer with Xmen DoFP in May.

WHA?!?!?!?! You're holding the Supes character responsible for Singer's inept ability to not only STEAL a classic flick, but put creampuffs in those iconic roles that lacked any type of acting ability? Singer is a hack and always was. He PUSSED out on making Supes his own and did nothing but embarrass himself in that process. You're just a Supes ha-ha-hate'ah (admittingly) and don't find the character interesting and that's cool but there are elements in MoS that are more than worthy of applause.

As for XMEN. Yawn. A franchise beating a dead horse over and over again. Hugh Jackman's the Wolverine was good, but what a washed up series anymore. Been there done that since the early 2000's. Give it a rest.

Right now you're seeing a lot of 70s & 80s storylines sourced for Marvel movies. The look of the Thor movies and the story (in part) for the second film is taken from the Walt Simonson run in the mid-late '80s. The second Cap film looks like it comes from Mark Gruenwald's run on the title but since I avoid spoilers till I see the movie I won't know for sure what else is going on. I like that the Falcon will make his debut and I like the actor they chose for the role. The trailer rocks, too. Of course, the Avengers movies are building towards Infinity Gauntlet.

Days Of Future Past is based on the story of the same name by Chris Claremont and John Byrne (both wrote/drew many issues in the 80s) but they haven't done X-Men right since the second half of X2 so I don't give a fuck.

Michael Shannon. Russell Crowe. Antje Traue. Kevin Costner. And Henry Cavill. Like the Dark Knight Trilogy,, the cast couldn't have been better.

Recent still of Amy Adams from the forthcoming American Hustle with Christian Bale. I may be revising my hotness gauge reading for this chick.

Don't worry YJ, I'm going to see MOS when it hits DVD and I'll give my 2 cents on it then. It cannot remotely be worse than Iron Man 3 which was the fucking worst super hero movie ever (And yes, even worse than Fantastic 4 Rise of the Silver Surfer).

Comin around to Adams, eh? Told you she was a fox. She is so sexy. Her personality makes her even sexier. She's a very humble, down to Earth person that appreciates her career and never steps over that boundary. She's a class-act for sure.

That color looks great on her, but her hair is awesome in every still I've seen from the movie. She was really cool on Saturday's live web event, too. Did you get a chance to see that?

It's going to be the Black and Grey suit. Fans are definitely geeking-out over it. I know one thing, Supes and Bats are going to look GOOD. Zack Snyder is a visual genius. There will be some changes to the Superman suit, too. I'm thinking it will be brighter and more vibrant next to Bats and maybe a more comfortable, moveable material but other than that, I thought the MoS suit design was brilliant.

I don't think the MoS suit needs any more tweaking. And I'm naturally leery of any new Bat duds but that's only because BatClooney still gives me nightmares. Kevin Smith has seen the new suit and geeked out over it.

I didn't get it yet. How are the bonus features and deleted/extended scenes? Don't tell me there aren't any.

The extras are AWESOME with this Blu-Ray. No deleted scenes, that will come later on down the road but the making of this film is brilliant and highly entertaining. They go highly in depth of all that is Krypton that I had to re-check reality to understand Krypton is a fantasy, made up world.

The behind the scenes making of this film is a fun ride and you'll understand more and more the direction of where this film was supposed to head towards and the end result nailed it. Everything reminded me why I loved this movie to begin with, but seeing it with the cast and crew and the extra content is even better.

Picked up the Target digibook and if anybody wants the collectors edition, Steel-tin S glyph box-set that is selling on Amazon for $45-50, better go to your nearest Wal-Mart. They glitched and goofed, got this item in and is selling it for $25, a complete STEAL. I managed to finally find one as most Wal-Marts are sold out of these.

Anyway, enjoy this review of Man of Steel. I'm verbatim with this dude. Highly entertaining and he's spot on:
