When SP paired up with NS guitar... also nothing short of spectacular...

Yes, incredible as it sounds and it sounds incredible it's hard to believe that anyone could get that sound out of their body unless they were possessed; but he did. He had to have left part of himself on the stage floor because that is just so darn soulful it had to have hurt! I bet he could leave the stage and look back over his shoulder and still see himself singing that last note!

The only thing about the live version is I believe the high notes at the end of the song is prerecorded. If not Perry must have sold his soul to the devil for being able to hit those notes every night.

I was always skeptical about that last high note in this performance. In the original MTV-aired version, it kinda looked like he pulled away from the mic just a half second sooner than what you hear of his voice. Not sure if they 'doctored it up' for the DVD release, along with editing Perry saying "M-Television" to "MTV". Regardless....it's a stellar performance, and one of my favorites!

I have no idea either way, and certainly not musically proficient enough to be able to decipher either way. But I do remember the radio interviews SP gave to promote the DVD in 2006. He seemed to make it point to give out all the details into the production and his thought process ... the MTV change, because nobody would know what M-Television means ... and back to original "here in Houston" (in DSB, edited out in earlier released version - the GH '78-'86 DVD). Also, other than fine tuning and updating to current sound taking from the master tapes (which were 20 yrs old & broadcasted for TV), there were absolutely no re-dubbing or enhancements done to either the singing or playing.
That's what he said ... what we hear in the Dvd is exactly what everybody heard in the arena in Houston.

I believe the audio is the raw sound board feed prior to processing. This shows Perry at his best without all of the "love" added. His raw vocals are on kill here.
