'Peacemaker' is the biggest streaming TV series in the world right now, as HBO Max originals gain momentum

Throughout 2021, total demand for Max series grew by 39.2%. Demand for Netflix originals in the same 12-month period grew by 10.3%.

Parrot Analytics said that Max was the fastest-growing major streaming service in 2021 when it came to demand share for originals.

By the end of the year, total demand for Max originals was well ahead of Netflix.

The demand for Max's originals is impressive given that it has far fewer subscribers than Netflix and Disney+. Netflix said last week that it had 222 million subscribers worldwide. Disney+ had 118 million global subscribers as of October.

HBO and Max ended 2021 with a combined 73.8 million subscribers, according to parent company AT&T, surpassing projections while Netflix and Disney+'s subscriber growth had slowed.

First, a simple Google of number of Netflix subscribers shows 222 minion. Three times that of HBOMax. Disney+ has 130 million. HBOMax competition is Paramount+ at 60million. HBOMax isn't even close to competing with Netflix and Disney+. Even the 73 million is a misrepresentation because some people get auto subscribed via ATT but do not use the service, same goes with new subscribers...are they just new ATT subscribers or are they actually watching HBOMax?

HBO doesn't release their numbers to Nielson! So, they can claim whatever they want in articles like this. But, in reality, out of the top 10 originals being streamed, Netflix usually has well over half with Disney+ taking most of the rest. Sometimes you will see an Amazon, Apple or Hulu show, but not often. So, yeah, I know Peacemaker is supposed to be a hit...but, until HBOMax is transparent with their numbers and gets on Nielson, it's really irrelevant and impossible to make a true comparison with the other services. Nobody REALLY knows how many people are watching HBOMax....shhhhh, it's a secret.

https://youtu.be/XfmIpHZ7-sU?t=625

"Don't fall for it!"

Example: This is from YOUR article
"HBO and Max ended 2021 with a combined 73.8 million subscribers, according to parent company AT&T, surpassing projections while Netflix and Disney+'s subscriber growth had slowed."

HBO and HBOMax are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS. You can not watch Peacemaker on HBO streaming - only on HBOMax. What is HBOMax's number of "subscribers"? Shhhh, it's a secret.

"Parrot Analytics measures audience demand, which accounts for the interest in and engagement with, or overall popularity, of a TV series."

So, it is #1 in some weird poll of "demand". How many people actually watched the series? Shhhhh, it's a secret.

Just got back from seeing The Batman. I was not holding out a lot of hope, even though the trailers looked good and MT was directing. The movie is pretty darn good. 9.1 out of 10. Closer to the Nolan Batman than Zach's. Robert did a good job playing the hero, his Bruce still needs work. He is like in Batman mode no matter which person he is playing at the time. The 3 hours passed by quick, and the movie was over before it seemed it began. Will have to go see again.

Yeah, it's getting great reviews. I may see it Saturday.

It's ironic that these non-DCEU movies are so much better than the connected universe. Next you are going to have Batman in the Flash movie setting up the future, and it's not using the same Batman...But, they are already talking sequels to this one. Plus the Joke sequel, not connected to the MCEU. And, they are all in completely different timelines so it doesn't make sense to do cross-over. Just a mess, IMO.

Yes, I saw Batman. It's good and worth seeing. It has a great opening set of scenes. But, it has a lot of exposition, just talking and talking and talking. To the point where it gets a bit boring. The Cat Woman/Batman relation doesn't seem to work that well, IMO. Yes, the Penguin scenes are the best. The Batman theme and original music is really good...but the soundtrack songs are dark grunge music, which I just hate...so the soundtrack is just bad. The action and fight scenes are pretty good. The entire Riddler game is also pretty good. Batman as a detective is a good change up from the norm. The Batman/Gordan relation works well. The ending was kinda 'meh'...it was kinda at a lull actually. So, there is plenty of good for most people to go see it. But, it's definitely over rated, maybe a 3.5 out of 5. Definitely not at the level of Dark Knight...But, better than BvS.

Saw THE Batman again, this time on HBO. Still holds up as a very good movie. Actually going to buy the BR of it. Not much else going on in DC thread, anyone looking forward to anything new coming out?

A while back I discussed "The Orville" here...and TNC argued that it was just a Star Trek parody....like Galaxy Quest.

The third season is FINALLY airing on HULU. I watched the first episode and the plot is about gang hating and harassing someone to the point where they commit suicide...and having very serious discussion about all sides of it. Were there funny bits to it? Ummm, no, I actually can't think of ANY. Seeing how well they dove into the topic, took it seriously, and commented on every angle of it, it was very, very well written. It was pretty incredible that they even went there. Definitely one of the best scifi "space opera" episodes I have ever seen.

Well, there's some GREAT news! Rumors aplenty are swirling about Discovery giving the green light to a solo Superman sequel with Henry Cavill! :D

Well, it looks like HBOMax joined Nielson...and it looks like they do not have a single show in the top 10. LOL

Maybe if they had new content...it will be interesting to see how they really compete.

Wow, I watched an interview with Dwayne and he said Black Adam came to defend his own country, not the world. He said that all of these other DC superheroes were unknown to them. When someone like Superman would show up to defend their country, they would respond with, "Why do we need you? We already have a hero. We have Black Adam."

So, either Dwayne doesn't know what he's talking about or this, "the world needed a hero and the world got Black Adam." is a lie, not representing the movie or the character very well.

Also, when he was asked about appearing in future DC movies, in a cameo or otherwise, he looked like he didn't know what to say or how to answer, then he gave a general, "well, that is the idea..." sorta response. So, I doubt anything is planned definitely.

Crowd went fucking nuts for Henry. So damn nice to see :!: . Not a surprise critics didn't rate this well. A total adrenaline rush from start to finish and almost 100% action. Dewayne really wanted to have BA arrive on scene giving absolutely no fucks  David Zaslav is fast-fast tracking MoS2. Wouldn't be surprised to see a director attached in 2023 for a 2024; early 2025 at latest release. Henry will be in Flash and Aquaman2 as well and Zack will be back for Final Crisis in a few years. McQ pitched a Supes film with Henry to the old clown table but McQ is too busy. Matthew Vaughn most likely the front runner.

Actually, I was thinking of seeing it after watching Dwayne's interviews...he is pretty excited about it and is good at selling it. It sounded different. But, after reading more about it, it is giving me "Independence Day" vibes where all it is is a hodgepodge of different superhero movies, a little Wakanda, a little Antman (or a big Antman), a little X-Men, a little Superman, a little Doctor Strange all thrown together in one movie. Very little character development of anyone besides Black Adam. Sounds like another miss...unless you are a huge Dwayne fan, or a DC fanboy.

No thanks. DC would be better off if WB was sold to Universal...Universal could fire everybody, wait a few years, and then start completely over. No Snyderverse, no history of shit, no Flash in jail, a blank page to start over with.

This plays exactly like a Dewayne Johnson film. No holding back. Action is ambitious. It's reminiscent of Aquaman. Not the critics thing being so heavy action but a GA type movie. It's fast and furious, pun intended. Black Adam's memo even in the comics is just fucking shit up. Rock delivered there. The OG ZSJL cast is back, including Ben and Erza is givin a chance to get his shit together. Hamada officially left today, so I'd fully expect Ray Fisher back by Flash 2.
