Personally, I think Deen is mega talented, playing the drums as well as singing..Now, Steve perry himself was a drummer, and I remember an interview by which Steve Smith and perry were talking, and Smitty was saying how Perry "helped him" a little by "teaching or telling" Smitty whats easier to "sing over" as for as drums go; meaning it was harder to have to sing over hard/loud strikes...Smitty was thankful and said perry was an fine drummer.
As for singing, I am with Jrnyman28.....I hear Deen for Deen, but if you know a little about singing, Deen is really a couple notches below Mr. Perry. He can go high and hold his notes great, but there is a lot less soul from Deeno..However, if Deen could stand on the front of the stage and concentrate exclusively on singing, I would like to see that. But seriously, Perry was the best.... I don't thinkthey sound alike at all IMO...
